Last night I watched The Master, by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, and more. This is the third PTA film I've watched, and I have to say I absolutely adore his style. He is able to bring career defining performances out of actors with almost every film he brings out. The Master is an absolute powerhouse of performances. Phoenix and Hoffman are able to bring such a raw embodiment to their characters that you forget they're even acting. The pain, anger, and pure emotion they portray is dazzling, and it is worth watching the film just to see them perform. The soundtrack is great and the cinematography is beautiful. This is a must see.
